Lucas White

Dr. Lucas White was born in Winfield, KS, where he spent most of his childhood. Later the family relocated to Edmond, OK in time for Dr. White to begin high school at Edmond North.

He first became interested in veterinary medicine when his grandfather’s horse was injured. He had the opportunity to watch the veterinarian repair a large gash on the horse’s face and was impressed with the doctor’s knowledge and skills. He thought it would be fun to help injured or sick animals to recover.

After graduating from Oklahoma State in 2007, Dr. White worked at various veterinarian clinics practicing small animal medicine for about ten years before joining Sunset Vet.

Finishing Veterinary School was a Lifelong Dream

Growing up, his family always had a dog or two, and under the guidance of his parents, he did most of the feeding and caring for them. He loved to spend summers at his grandfather’s farm driving tractors and learning to use various tools. He attributes the kindness and respect that he carries with him today to the summers with his grandfather.

Dr. White and his wife, Breanna met at a church youth group retreat where they discovered that they were attending the same high school. They dated through college even though he went to Oklahoma State and she was in Edmond at UCO. Married for nearly 13 years, they now have two children. Their daughter, Ellia is 4 years old and their son, Palmer will soon be 2.

In his spare time, Dr. White enjoys golfing, hiking, and fishing with his father. When time permits, he does a little woodworking and he and his wife love to get away to the mountains when they can. He also enjoys time spent watching his children grow.

Calm and Objective in Stressful Situations

Passionate about preventive care for pets, Dr. White feels his work is complete when he can get pet parents on board with preventative measures against diseases, parasites, and injuries. He also believes strongly in communication. He likes to hear about problems, no matter how minor so that precautions can be taken to ensure it doesn’t become a major problem. He looks forward to collaborating with Dr. Kennemer and Dr. Grimmett. He hopes that the diverse background of all three will produce an enhanced level of veterinary medicine and elevate Sunset to new heights!
