Dr Annie Downs was born and raised in Lawton, OK. She moved to Stillwater in 2008 to purse an under graduate degree in Animal Science and ride on the Varsity equestrian at Oklahoma State University. She remained in Stillwater and graduated with her DVM in 2017.
Dr Downs knew she wanted to be a vet from a young age, and her many years showing hunter jumper horses fostered that. She started veterinary school with the end goal of being an equine veterinarian, but switched paths to small animal.
After graduation in 2017, Dr Downs moved to north central Florida to start her career and practiced there for 5 years in small animal clinics before relocating back to Oklahoma.
Dr Downs and her husband, Cody, met in 2009 after being in the same home town their whole lives. Cody is a wildlife biologist and currently working on a PhD at OkState. They have been married since 2017 and have two pups, Chloe and Freddy, and two horses, Bucky and Porter.
In her spare time Dr Downs enjoys spending time with her horses and dogs, and exploring the outdoors with her husband.
I was born and raised in Lawton, OK. My childhood home was in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of town.
I have been married to Cody Griffin since 2017. We met in 2009 at a show his band was playing at in our hometown through a mutual friend.
I have always loved animals growing up, but truly became interested in being a vet once I started showing horses and realizing everything that goes into keeping them healthy and happy.
I really enjoy getting to build relationships with not only the animals but also their owners, so I am looking forward to the challenge of having to build all those relationships at a new clinic.
My biggest interest is in horse riding, I would like to get back into horse showing which I have not been able to do since starting college.
My favorite tv show is Outlander.
Excuses for everything.
I want to make it back into the horse show ring or to go to Scotland.
